EF Window problem

Hey guys, the other day my rear passenger electric window got stuck down and after taking apart the door and checking the mechanisim etc there seems to be 2 white clips with springs that have snapped out from either end of the winding mechanism on the cable, i also found what looks like the metal clips that held them in place sitting in the bottom of the door. Just wondering if anyone else has ever had this problem and if so what did you do? is the only solution an entire new mechanisim? Cheers

Re: EF Window problem

Bummer, these things are not meant to be repaired, so you normally have to get a new one. At around $200 for a new assembly, not a good thing!

I had a similar thing happen to the front drivers window on the ED - the end of the cable pulled through the crappy plastic of the assembly. I fixed it by making up a steel holder for the end of the cable, which sort of formed a collar around the cable so the end of it would not pull out. I bent it out of sheet steel, and bolted the finished holder to the steel part of the housing. It was quite hard to re thread the cable over the top and bottom guides due to the spring tension from memory. Very hard to explain exactly what I did, as it was a bit trial and error from memory, but it can be done .
