EL ute dash to XD

I know the El style ute was based on the XD so does anyone know weather I could grab one from a recked XR ute & throw it in my XD or am I just asking for trouble?

I think it's possible as for the hassles I don't know.
I remember Street Machine had an article a while back with some dude who has an EF-EL interior in his XW or XY and if my memory serves me right this same car had a shaker scoop on a EFI Windsor.
Sorry I can't help you more.

the ef/el instument cluster wont work in your xd basically because the cluster works off the computer. ie it requires the computer to send it information for the temperature and spedo and stuff.

however you can get the cluster out of a XG xr6 ute and put that in your car, i did this to my old XF S pack i had. put in the xr6 dash and re-configured the wiring loom to suit the new cluster, it is alot of work and the only thing i had to change was the fuel sender out of the tank. but being a ute you should be able to get one and put it straigt in with out modifying it.

hope this helps a little

Tim

Which part of the dash? The dash as a whole(no instruments)should fit pretty easy. The Xh ute is very the same as XF...

The whole lot & mabey even the centre console. Did they come in any colour apart from grey? My interior is black & orange but I guess I could paint in to match. The car is the orange XD that was in the second last street heat if anyone saw it. Im thinking of going retro tech on it as I get a lot of hassles with cops ,EPA & RTA.

Yes it will fit!!! You dont have to change the whole dash as the skin and mouldings from an XH will bolt straight onto an XD. How do I know this?? as Iam building an XD using XH XR6 running gear. So if you want any parts or info let me cos I have got a complete XH interior as per rolfy72's pic.
Thanks.
