Guys, I've just about finished a project to install a delay unit to provide power to the electric windows after the accessories has been turned off and/or keys removed.
Provides a delay to allow the electric windows to continue working for 20 minutes just like EF/EL/AU/BA.
I can make some more if anyone is interested ??
I have also included a function that locks the tail gate (I have a station wagon) when the doors are locked (will leave that out on sedan version to keep $$ down).
Have not priced it up as yet but would be in the $40 to $60 range and simple to install.
Let me know.

Re: Electric Window delay in EA/B/D - Interested ?
I'm interested, but I always ask questions first:
What would be involved to install it?
Secondly, is there a similar system made or available that would allow power to the Sound system for 60 minutes (a la AU/BA)? Or is that system actually housed within the head unit?
Re: Electric Window delay in EA/B/D - Interested ?
OK, to install will be a 4 wire connection (I assume you don't have a stationwagon tailgate on your LTD :).
The wire that activates the AccRelay is cut and each end connected to wires from the Delay unit (i.e. the relay wire is routed through the Delay Unit). The Delay unit is connected to a permanent 12v and ground.
That's it.
The device detects power off and supplies power to the relay so the windows keep working. The relay is released after 20 minutes.
The sound system 60min is most likely a function of the head unit. I'll look up the wiring diags tonight to confirm.
Obvously, one could have a button somewhere, which pressed, could turn the radio on for an hour. It would be neater to have it working as in AU/BA but the problem is that the pre-1994 (original equipment) radios had on/off switches whereas the AU/BA(EL?) have a momentary pushbutton. Can't see how an integrated setup could be made to work.

Just rewire your headunit accessory wire to the constant.

But then you gotta remember to turn it off every time....flat batteries will surely follow :( How about having a momentary switch that when pressed uses a relay and a 555 timer to power the stereo for the next X minutes. That way it turns off when the key comes out, but you can go back whenever you like and turn it on with the button. You could even use a pot and make it adjustable time!!
Re: Electric Window delay in EA/B/D - Interested ?
OK, checked out both the standard radio and the Alpine premium head (both original factory fitted radios).
There could be a way of setting up the std radio.
How it would work would be:-
1. Accessory is turned off (e.g. key out of the ignition).
2. Turn radio off then turn radio on again
4. Radio would be switched on for X minutes.
It would require some circuitry in line with the powerfeed to the radio that would detect the resistive load of the radio when the On switch is operated. Easiest way would be a small ADC and processor.
However, the Alpine premium head unit uses a soft(electronic) circuit inside the unit to control on/off and there is no measureable change between On or Off during Acc off conditions. I cannot see a way of sensing on/off when the Accessories are off.... so, sorry, cannot do this one.
I also checked some other units I had on the shelf (Sony and Clarion) and they both have on/off switch circuits that do not show any differentiation.
Easiest way would be a 555timer and relay as suggested.

Re: Electric Window delay in EA/B/D - Interested ?
OK, thanks for the interest.
There would only be about $4.00 difference with AutoTailGateLock omitted.
The unit is based around a single chip processor so component count is fairly low (it's all in the software).
I'll price it up during the week and finish the circuit board design and let you know.
Installation-wise, yeah, may be able to help there as well. However, it will have full install instructions and only 4 wires to connect so should be a snap anyway.
I am interstate for the week and will only be able to get to the internet very infrequently so you may not hear from me 'till next Sunday.
Regards.

Thanks GRK_GHIA.
Looks like I will be working interstate again this week so cannot finish this module off this coming week. Heaps big sorry :(
Should be able to get it finished off during next weekend.
Will let you know as soon as.
