Electrical Problem ?

Hey Lads, heres a problem for you, its for a mate actually its a holden, no i know know before you say anything i know its a Shitty comEndore .
but hey we need a hand and electrics are only electrics, and the sooner he gets it going right the sooner i can beat him fair and square with out complants of ... " my cars not running right" so heres the problem as he puts it ...... If you dont know a thing about commodores or electrics then you dont have to read on, thanks for your time..... However if you do any help or idea would be apreciated. thanks o and GO FORD ,

(Vote 1 Ambrose in the next federal election.)

I Have a question regarding a Vl calais Pwr / overdrive button.
The botton is on the T / bar and from what i can gather the option of haveing it on or of is used to hold the auto in gear longer.

Anyway it started playing up and would just drop in and out of this options, therefore when driving along the car would surge every now and then as it changed gears all of a sudden at the wrong rev ranges. and the light would flick on and of on the dash accordingly. i found out that i could fiddle with the a T bar when driving and make it come on and of with out pushing the button, suggesting to me "lose wire or connection" I put up with this for a while untill it just stopped comeing on and off oneday. And it now seems to be stuck in one of the option "not sure which one" either overdrive or normal drive seems to go fairly hard still so i think its stuck in pwr however the light on the dash dont come on.

so i eventually got the Sh*!s with it and pulled the switch apart finding as i had suppected a wire that had broken of. I fixed the wire by soldering it back on but it does not work still.

Could this have been the probelm to begin with and the intermited working of the button and haveing it come on and of on a of caused something else to short out such as a sensor or something ? im not exactly sure how it works. Any help or ideas would be great thanks...

also does anyway know how hard the engine should be reving when driving at 100k's, as its siting at aprox 3100 rpm its the standed auto calais engine non turbo and i think this is due to the overdrive option not leting it shift as i cant turn it on and off...... thanks

Re: Electrical Problem ?

possible the same as a ford the ECU may need to be reset as the signal was missing it may have compensated and now ignores the input, disconnect the battewry for 1/2 hour, but it will need time to re-learn and go from there, or ls1.com where the dark side lurk.
I did put something here, but it vanshied, I think

"So long and thanks for all the fish!"
