Im having some sort of electrical problem with my EF at the moment.....
When starting up the car I have been getting no power running to the deck, airconditioning or window wipers?? Usually I can turn the car off and back on again and then the power comes back and everything works fine, although some times it can take 2 or 3 times before the power comes back.
It used to be something that very rarely happened but recently it has been happening about 50% of the time when starting up the car???
I have got a an aftermarket deck but that has been in for over a year now and this problem has only been happening for about the last 6 months.
Any ideas??? A friend suggested the BCM could be playing up?
Im not real sure about the accessory relay, I am not all that cluey on the electrics, but I think you are on the right track because I don't lose all the accessories only a few. The dash lights and indicators still function which makes me think that it is a relay or something similar???
Any electrics gurus in the forums, I have got wiring diagrams in the owners manual but they may as well be written in another language for me, i can scan them if anyone want to have a squizz
A Friend had this EXACT problem only a few days ago.
The problem was with the ignition barrel.
The electrical contacts were loose on the back, so what was happening was he would have ignition power, but not accessories power.
He used to jiggle the ignition key, to get his radio and wipers working.
It was a very easy fix.
Take off the plastic covers around the ignition barrel.
At the back of the ignition barrel, there are 2 metal tabs, that hold the electrical contacts on.
Bend this so as the contacts are held more tightly in to the socket.
I would bet 100% that this is the problem that you are experiencing, and the above should only take about 5 mins to complete.
I have just started to have a look at fixing this problem and have pulled the plastic covers off, are these the electrical contacts you are referring to or am I in the wrong spot???
