Fixing dash rattle in EF XR6 - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Has anyone figured out a way of fixing the dash rattle in an EF. I think the part that is rattling is the plastic surround around the cd player and ashtray. I was thinking about taking it off and putting foam underneath where it screws to the rest of the console.

Its just getting a bit annoying.

I've been doing a bit of work inside my dash recently, and I noticed that the JB HiFi guys who installed my head unit had left various bits of wire, etc which may have rattled. You can make a big difference by getting in there and putting foam around anything that might ever make noise, and cleaning any rubbish inside.

Thanks, I was thinking that the foam would work, but usually someone on the forums has found a different way that may be better.

(Series 1 XR6WGN) Mine doesn't rattle but what i did notice last time i took that section off was the clips that you screw into have a bit of a spring on them - maybe your's are broken and allowing the surround to rattle.

Just a thought (but the foam will also work)
