The headlights went out on my 88 ford ranger. I checked the turn signal switch, since it works just about everything. I cleaned contacts and still nothing. The parking lights work but no headlights. Could it be the headlight switch? If so how do I changed, remove dash???

Have you checked the head light fuses??

you didn't mention it.

What about relay...some cars have a relay for each side, some have one for low and one for high.....does high work?

IF the headlight switch was shagged, i'd expect an intermittant problem before total failure.

Maybe your car has body control computer that also controls headlights also..maybe this died.

Fuses are good, no relays for headlights. It did have intermittant problems before failure so I removed and am going to R/R today. Thx.

Sorry,
but all cars your vintage have relays for headlights...esp in the US...they were using them before us little folk in Oz.

check connector @ headlight(s); also grounds there
