EB/ED XR lights won't fit on your XF, just for the record....
Twinlight is still probably your best bet though, because there wont be many XG XR6's at wreckers

You could try a specialist Ford wreckers to look out for some for you, but Id reckon you'd be waiting a while

Nope, just the XG ute

Which is actually an XF ute Body anyway
Which is why they're the only XR lights that will fit your car

To explain further-
Ford never made an E-series ute/panelvan, so they used the XF body with updated EB spec driveline, whallah - XG

Later on the when the EF series was released Ford made new front guards and bonnet for the ute to make it look like an EF, this is the XH

Both of these models had an XR version

There were a few other changes to suspension and interior, and some of these parts will fit on your XF too

Cool, thanks for the info!

now the hard part... Finding a wreck!
Bah! probably take me a while.
The local u-pull-it only has 2 utes and one is an XE, the other is an XF GLi. As rare as hens teeth at the best of times the utes.
Ah well. such is the ownership of a ute. ;-)

Is there any Ford specific wreckers in your area?
That would be the best place to start looking

Also ask them approximately how much they would be, because there is no use looking if they are gunna charge you like 500 bucks for them anyway

Yea there are a few, but they dont have them. One only has the bulbs for them. (?) Are they different from the standard Halogens you get at the auto shop? Drove to a few places today and no luck...

Im not sure, but I reckon they would be different bulbs to standard XF/XG ones, though the local auto shop would probably stock XR6 bulbs
