Help NF Fairlane

Hello everyone, hoping someone can help with two problems on my Fairlane. The first is that occasionally the central locking goes spaso and starts working by itself when I try to lock the car. Is it haunted???
The other is that my cruise control has stopped working. You turn it on and the dash light says its on but it will not set. Could this just be a fuse or a common fault with this unit? I would appreciate any information.

Re: Help NF Fairlane

check your brake light switch or stop lamps fuse.
simple way is to check your brake lamps are working.

Re: Help NF Fairlane

the central locking is quite common.. check all your tibbe locks sit flush with the top of the door trim when it is locked.. occasionally you can see one that is a little higher than the rest, the arm inside is either bent or is binding on something.. How often does it do it? Is it mainly when you use the key fob?..

NFI about the cruise sorry :(

Is this to check on the cruise control problem or the erratic central locking? Without going outside just now I believe the brake lights are working

Re: Help NF Fairlane

that was for the cruise.
from what i remember, the cruise control system runs off the brake lamp wiring.
if that appears to be ok, there is a tutorial on www.fordmods.com on installing cruise control and diagnosing problems.
there may be some info there for you

Thanks, I think you might have nailed it. The front passenger door knob is a little lower and yes mainly when I use the fob. You have confirmed it for me. Thanks Again

Brake lights all working except the middle LEDs on the rear window brake light. I was told this rear window brake light is not related to the cruise control. Can anyone verify?
