My sister has a Ford Telstar and her ignition switch all of a sudden become very tight, she got it back to off position, but now cannot move to accesory or on, if try will bust key off. Ne1 know how to remove it? and to repair it? Possible replacement cost? Ne info would be much appreciated, ne websites/documentation etc.

can you turn the wheel or is that locked as well, meaning the sterring lock has kicked in, so you cant turn the key, try turning the wheel with a bit of effort probably a bit one way or the other and turn the key.

Not 100% sure, my brother has tried and he knows a little about cars, sure he has moved the steering to try to unlock.

R they easy to remove?
Expensive to replace if stuffed?

Well the big problem may be getting a new one in the first place.

But fairly easy to remove and replace, you will need to do a bit of work to remove the sheer bolt(s) and then get new ones to put the new ignition in.

Cost have no idea really, ring ford and ask, or go the wrecker option, but make sure they have a key and it works :0)

You could always have it re-keyed to match your origianl key? Thats's what I did with my previous cars if I had to replace a lock...

In My XF the lgnition barrel tumblers broke and it jammed...couldnt turn it at all...got a locksmith out and fitted a new one...

Try a bit of silicon spray in the barrel, it may loosen it up for a while,
my Gf's old barina (dont laugh, it used to get near on 600k's on 35L of fuel) used to get stuck on the start position, I sprayed a bit of silcon spray in there, turned off / on a few times and was fine till she sold it.
