hi i have a 86 mustang with a 2.3 auto trans . now my problem is when i go to start it i turn the key to the start position it will start right up but as soon as i turn the key back to the run position it is like i turned the key off. now after a bit i can get it started on the first try. buy just barley letting up on the key from start. it will keep running ok now when it's running i can just hardly touch on the key and it will stop my guess less than 2 degrees back. . i think the ignition switch may have been replaced at some time and it was not adjusted right. there a way to adjust it rod from the key to the switch. or is there something else that might cause this ? or is my switch going bad?
Yes, they can be adjusted. They come with instructions with a replacement switch for proper alignment. It may just be loose on the column, slightly out of adjustment, or needs replaced.
