As a fellow fairmont ghia owner i like the standard woodgrain they come with but it does look a little out of place. The carbon fibre is an interesting change though. i think it looks good. it matches the colour of the rest of the interior a bit better.
i was thinkin of doing exactly that type of mod, but with aluminium checker plate.. that way i can easily have an aluminium gear knob and steering wheel to match.. i prefer the look of ally over wood or carbon.
it's personal choice on the woorgrain vs carbon vs alloy thing. i'll surely post my opinion, but i dont expect to have it agreed with.(isnt that what forums are all about anyway?)
Previous ride: EBII V8 Manual Ghia spring roll.
Current ride: 1970 ZC 351 Fairlane Custom.. (estimated 350ftlb @ 2000rpm.. max torque 420ftlb at 4500rpm.. with standard exhaust manifold!)
Well considering the fact that my EA Falcon GL interior looks pretty dodgy to say the least, that woodgrain interior is nice. However, in saying that, in my opinion the carbon fibre looks even better!
