Has anyone put driving/fog lamps in their XR front bar?
I'm thinking about it ( just for looks really ) but there doesn't seem much room,..would need to be small. I was thinking of small round ones to match headlights. what do you think ? am I a dickhead or will they look good? ..and if anyone has fitted same, what lights did U use and how did you fit?..thanks
I have also been interested in putting them on mine too (AUII XR8 Ute) and would like to know the best type to get and where to put them.
I was looking at some small oval shaped ones to put into the small recesses directly below the high beam lights, but haven't gotten around to doing it yet. I also thought that they wouldn't look too bad a little closer to the centre, like in the outer corner of the lower air intake below the number plate.
Come to think of it, I don't think I have ever seen one with driving lights on it, other than a few with nudge bars with them mounted on them, but I don't want to do that.
I too would only be doing it for looks. Had them on my previous XH and they looked great!
If I ever get around to doing it I will try to post some pics...
I put some on my AU1 XR6 - they are about 80mm wide by 60mm high (oval). They just fit between the top and bottom of the "mouth" of the front bar. They look pretty good - I'll try and find a picture of them and post it tonight. BTW they were $35 per pair from Big W or KMart (which included the wiring). Given the excellent low and High beam of the XRs, I wasn't too worried about the driving lights having any real effect - it's more just a cosmetic thing.

I've been thinking of doing the same to my AUII. I agree with you, the XR has the best lights of any car I've owned and would only be there more for looks than any real need for extra lighting.
a.marr,
If you do find a set that will fit into the front two vents of an AUII, let me know. I'll also have a look around.

yeah go Autobarn, supercheap sell crap lights. Thats just my say, im going to wait till i can get trade the AU3 XR on a BA XR8 before i get fog lights. hmmm
Yeah i wouldn't mind a set of lights on mine as well. But on the AU2's i'm still debating whether to go for a setup that fits in the left and right space or tucked in the middle like JCV8's setup.

Although this is a different front bar (and a different car), ithis picture may give you some idea of how the lights look spaced further apart. I reckon they look good on the Forte front end - not sure about the XR front, but I reckon they'd go OK as long as you can physically fit them in those little ducts on the AU2. I know you can't (easily) on the AU1.
