'Lights on' feature for EF and EL

Hey guys,

im thinking about having a go at replicating one of my favorite features of AU's - the ability to set the lights to delay, so when you lock the car using the remote the lights turn themselves off, and when you open it from a distance they turn on, lighting the area around the car.
Thought of this cos my gf's driveway is VERY dark so i always have trouble finding my way back to the car from her house, and there's a bloody cattle grid to contend with!

I know the BEM is what controls this feature on the AU's, and there is no E series BEM that is capable of doing this, so im just wondering how id go about it. I think the way to do it might be to link into smartlock somehow, so that when the car recognises the remote unlocking it, it turns the lights on, but i'm not too sure how to go about this.

Any ideas/suggestions?

AU never did this.

All the AU delay did was kept the light on for 60 seconds after you got out of the car...

Then they came back on when you turned the ignition back on, but it had nothing to do with the smartlock or the key.
