Hey all...

I'm not satisfied with my taillights. Not powerful enough, particularly the reverse lights. 21W is not enough, I am thinking maybe putting in 55W globes, this would give me a better sense of reverse direction at night. How would the reflectors stand up to the higher temperatures? And the globes aswell, would they blow quick too? Anybody tried this? I might even tint the lights slightly and if more powerful globes can be put in I will put them in. The wiring would of course be changed to accomodate the higher power output, I'm just worried about the reflectors and lenses. Any ideas?

I would assume the plastics will melt if left on for too long. But then again, good luck trying to find a globe that is higher than 21W.

I tried for a while.... but nothing.

I assume your in an EA??

I wouldn't be using one of those round bulb type lights, I'm thinking retrofitting globes as used in headlights. Reverse light are my priority at this stage. And yes I am in an EA = DA

i was thinking about putting an inverter in to increase the voltage from 12 to 24volts for all the lights (head lights, park, reverse.....ect)

it isnt that hard to do and will generate more light, but alot of time required to do the mod.

Back to topic.

I don't think the plastic will handle the heat. The wire will have to go bigger (new circuit), add a relay and fuse.

Try and hide two spot lights under the car that sort of aim into the area you want to see. As long as they are not a distraction and only come on when the transmission is in reverse, you'll be right.

I think that's what I'll have to do LTDHO, some slim lights under the bumper shouldn't look too bad :)
