hey, ive got a XE falcon
my blinkers going crazy at the moment
whenever i turn left the blinker doesnt work properly,
when i do it, it ticks like crazy but when i push up on the stalk it works.
any idea what this is????
its not the actual blinkers though its more the blinker stalk or wiring in the dash.

the blinkers are OK. im guesing a interior problem

has anyone else had this problem??

push you hazzard lights button in a few times, failing that it is probably the flasher unit in the fuse box

try replacing the flasher unit. if that fails maybe a new blinker stalk as the 'switch' may have worn out.

Sounds like the stalk is worn out, causing a poor supply to the flasher can.

Are your blinker bulbs OK?

There is a built in system that if a bulb blows, the system flashes really fast to let you know.

Sounds like you have a dodgy wire contact in your steering column - which is duplicating the same symptom as a blown bulb. ie: a break in the circuit - when you push up on it, the wire contacts again and works normally. Take the steering column shroud off and check out the wires. The left had indicator should be green (on my XD). The right indicator wires are green/light blue.

I'll also guess that when it flashes like a freak, that either one or both indicators won't work.

There is a block of wires all soldered in together in one big unit at the end of the indicator lever inside the steering column.

The flasher unit looks like a big size relay - its a small square about 3cm long with 3-4 pins on the back (quite cheap). You'll find it up under the dash, above the hand-brake (undo the plastic panel that sits under your steering column). Just pull the old unit out and push a new one in.

A cheap starting point - but I think it's a loose wire???.

yeah i got a similar problem my blinkers are going a bit crazy as well. plus when i push the hazard lights button the one above the steering wheel it doesnt turn the hazard lights on. oh yeah is that button suppose to be down or up to be engaged because mine is down and its not engaged and when it goes up it doesnt do anything so i presume something is stuffed up with my flasher unit.

plus when i have my brakes on the right turn signal flashes really slowly LOL. i tried cleaning the turn signal light bulbs housings to get rid of corrosion but it didnt help. they work fine except when u have the brakes on and it only affects the right turn signal

this happened to me a week after i put the eb rear on my car
i'm driving out of my street on christmas day go to indicate and the friggin thing starts clicking like hell so i pull over and find that one of the rear indicators don't work so it was simple just change the globe

so i would recon you should check to make sure none of you globes have gone out by puting the indicator on and looking around the car to see if all lights work if they all work the next thing i'd be doing is going to a wrecker and fetching me a new indicator stalk if that don't work id chuck my car in a junk heap and forget about it :s6:

thanks for the advice
im pretty sure its either the stalk or blinker unit.

should be an easy fix, i havent had a chance to look yet,
but ill have to wait till i visit my dad to get some parts, as he has about 4 XD-XFs sitting in his backyard .
