NA Climate Control not doing what it is told

Hi members.

I have a problem with the climate control on my car. Regardless of the temp setting, or which override button I press (such as "demist" or floor or bi level) all the air comes out at the face vents. The recirc button does not work either, however the ECON button does work. All the display works fine, and all buttons register (the appropriate lights light up above each button.

I have tried the self test, which came up fine, I reset the unit, which did not make a change to it.

All the tech docs seem to say if there is a vacuum leak then it diverts to the windscreen, but I cannot get it to go anywhere but the face vents.

Is it the climate module itself? It worked about three weeks ago but not now.

Driving to work at 5.30am I cant get my toes warm or my windscreen un fogged.

Any ideas?

Cheers!

Have a look near the under the washer bottle in the engine bay. You'll find a black or green vacuum line (can't remember which one exactly). It's most probably fallen out of the connector on the back of the manifold and is not supplying vacuum to actuate the vents.

Re: NA Climate Control not doing what it is told

Well I am now more stumped than ever, I looked behind the washer bottle and I have three hoses coming out, one green which goes to the heater tap I think, one black which is secured to the back of the inlet manifold, and another black one which stops dead about 5 inches after the engine bay and is not connected to anything.

Is this one supposed to be connected? Also now I hear a hissing up near the front of the motor, under the inlet manifold, near the dizzy. It stops about 3 seconds after I turn the car off, but I cant find where exactly it is coming from. It does sound vacuum orientated. But looks like a bastard to get to.

I also pulled the glovebox out and looked behind there and everything is plugged in nice and tight.

Any more suggestions?
