Lightbulb New Navigation System

Is it possible to install a new 2003 sat nav system in an older car? I really like the new syatem but cant afford a new car. I know offically the answer would be no. But if I bought a radio/screen unit and a dvd unit and an antenna wouldn't it work? or what else would I need?
