In my XF, which I put EA fairmont seats in, the back rest on both seats has a bit of play in them, is this suppose to happen? if not is there a way to tighten them? I have to get rego soon and I wanna make sure they pass!

It's a common problem and the reason the seat adjust mechanism was redone on EF-EL's. Some rego guys now know to look for it on EA-ED Falcon's. My ED failed a few years ago for this reason.
I cobbled together a fix but it ain't esay. Basically what's happened is a nylon bush/washer type thing has gone and metal-to-metal wear has been taking place. Too hard to describe here without pics but if your bored and handy you could pull it to bits and try and improve things.
I'd tighten the adjuster/pivot mechanism up overly tight so that there is no movement at all and then get the rego check done if your overly worried about it.
