I have a 96 ford was travelling when I noticed a burning smell, then radio stopped workin, then windows stopped to take look then the dam car wouldn't start it was then I realized my smartlock light was a no go.
I have since been told about the 30min on (ON) thats the only time it will start. Pleaz don't be to technical I'm not up with your fellas technical jargon!!!

So pleaze help this Kiwi

Ok, i'm guessing that if you're in NZ, and its a 96 model, it's an EF right? If so - it has the smartlock light right in the middle of the cluster?

If it is an EF, try changing the bulb in the smartlock light, because the bulb itself is part of the system - if the bulb blows, smartlock buggers up.

If you need help getting to the back of the cluster to change the bulb (its a bit of work but easy once you know how), let me know.
