In my EL Fairmont the auto down feature of the drivers power window switch is playing up. Most times the switch sticks in the down position, particularly when it's hot in the car. I thought about replacing the switch assembly but couldn't stop laughing for hours after Ford told me the replacement price... over $200!!!
Has anyone got a fix for a sticking switch? Or suggestions?
If I can't get it to work I'll find a way to disable it so you have to hold the switch, just like the other three, so it can't stick again.

im not too sure if this can be done on the EF/EL, but on my XF Ghia i pulled apart the switch and used contact cleaner to clean it when it stopped working, due to a poor design (and mounted in the door) it filled with crud and stopped working. And yes, ford quoted me about $200 for a new switch for my XF as well!.

Pull it out, pull it apart. I haven't looked at it thoroughly enough yet but that was because I lashed out the money for a new set. I think it it just because of a little plastic bit that snaps, shouldn't be hard to fix.
