Radiator warning light

Hello, just a small problem, my radiator warning light keeps coming on.

I regularly check the cooling system and there are no leaks. Does the light work off the sensor thats around the middle of the overflow bottle?

Its in EA 3.9 mpfi manual by the way.

Re: Radiator warning light

if you mean the pot with a fan in the middle then thats the one thats run off the sensor in the coolant bottle. the one thats lights up like a thermometer (i think, havnt had mine this hot) is when its too hot.

Re: Radiator warning light

Yes its a coolant level sensor.
They have a habbit of getting very fine cracks in them with age.
They start to fill up a little, then progresively fill up totaly.
They cost about $50 from ford.
I bought a new one when mine started playing up, but then it stopped.

Re: Radiator warning light

Check your oil as well and make sure there isn't any white parts in it.
I remember when that light came on for me all the time in the old EA and it was the head gasket.
