I'm currently trying to remove the door trims on my ED to allow the fitment of some new speakers. I have removed all the screws around the trim, removed the torx screws holding in the doorhandle, removed the power window control but i can't seem to get the trim off. i can pull it away from the door at the bottom, but it is still attached at the top somehow. i'm not sure if it is the locking "rod?" inside the door, but it wont budge.
wind the window down, grab a hand on either side of the top of the trim and pull it up! It should come off easy as. Sometimes the rubbers get stuck so just put a screwdriver under the top of the trim towards the rear of the car and lever it off.
thanks mate, i tried to lever up the rubber seal at the top, but i tried pretty hard, and it wouldnt budge. How does the little button thing you press lock lock the door disconnect? there is a red plastic rod connecting it to the door, but it is still attached.
yeah just the grab the locking button and pull upwards on it.. they can be kinda hard to get off. if you're having trouble with it just get a pair of pliers and pull the button up with that.
yes mate, with the doors unlocked, place the button ontop of the rod, firmly & quickly whack it downwards, this helps to lock it onto the rod & also sets the proper height for it

Or you can wind the window down, lock the door, pull the inner button clasp out & then push it on all the way home. With the door in the lock position the button will go down to the correct flush fitting position.
