Since i got my exhaust done on thursday car has been chewing through a shitload of fuel. Rang Midas and said i should reset my computer , how do you reset the computer on my EA. Thanks.

I'd remove the left hand side kick panel.
Un-plug the engine computer
wait about 45 to 60 minutes
re plug.
the computer will learn during the next 100kms.

Or undo battery terminal for the same time.

First option, radio and clock dont need reseting!!!

Hmmm,

I've d/c the battery many times and neve needed to reset the computer.

What would happen if I did it to our car? Its a CFi 4spd EAII on gas.

which plug do you unplug under the left hand kick panel, the single black lead or the big one with lots of pretty colour wires?? 1997 EL XR6

It's the big one - you undo it by using a 10mm socket. You're best off removing the ECU retaining strap and hanging the ECU out in the open where you can work on it.

My air bag light stays on when the car is running... People at ford said that I need to reset my codes on my computer... Would this do the same thing??

Why else would you need to reset the computer?? Should I do it if I have installed a better exhaust?? How long do you have to have it disconnected for??
