Re: Roof lining Glue/Adhesive, Which one!?

craft glue would be that white glue like wood glue?? i doubt that would hold too strong. try get some glue which i think is called something along the lines of' sticks anything to anything' or something like that....it actually does stick anything to anything!

how about super glue.

Only joking. You need a spray contact clue where its sprayed on either side of the material and stick it together once tacky. 3M have one about $25 a can. You can get a whole new roof lining installed for $200.

Used PVA craft glue on mine with no dramas. Just make sure to scrape all the crappy foam off or it'll come off later.

I used contact cement, worked very nicely, you can also get it in a spray.

I used Selleys 'Kwik Grip' contact cement. Also called gorilla snot. Easy way to apply was with a piece of heavy cardboard rather than a brush - thin ply would also work. Works well!

Re: Roof lining Glue/Adhesive, Which one!?

Thanks guys i ended up returning the craft glue and got a can of that snotty glue stuff, cant rememeber what its called but it cost $25, same stuff they use to laminate laminex onto wood. I rushed it a little and applied to thick a layer of glue on the actual material which now u can just notice seeped through a little and is noticable which pissed me off a little. Not to noticable though so ill leave it for now. One thing that got to me was taking the actual lining out of the car! How did you guys do it???? i took it out the back door by bending it a little bit, did it slowly and carefully because it was so easy to crack it. All good for now anyway, installed the map lights in the back and centre too while i was at it they came up nice. Thanks fellas!

I know it's a bit late now, but Contact Adhesive (in a spray can) from SuperCrap for $9.95.

Works really well! Done three with the same can so far.

confused Re: Roof lining Glue/Adhesive, Which one!?

hi guys I have a ford Fairmont BA and the roof lining is coming off.. I rang the 2 ford places closest to me and they said it was going to cost around $1800-$2000 for me that's a lot of money... was wondering if anyone can help out with some questions?

1, does everything in the car just clip out?

2, do I need to take the whole roof out? can I just take the lining off and replace it then put the bits back on?

please help...
