I've had the battery out of my V8 ED Fairmont for over a week now. Was told that the computer might need reseting?? Does anyone know how to do it. I've heard leaving it in reverse with the hand brake on for 15 mins does it? Anyone know anything else about it?

i know it will reset the cpu if I leave it off for a week. But do I just drive it to let it learn again? Or is there something "special" I have to do?

No, just drive it, it will re-learn. Battery off for 1/2 hour should do it.

when i changed the battery on mine a few months ago i was told to take the negative cable on the battery and touch it to the connected positive terminal ( making sure there is nothing connected to the negative )and that would clear the ecu.worked ok

Another strange one, I wonder why these things aren't mentioned in the workshop manual? How would that work?
