Re: Speedo interchangeability
small white gear located inside the sppedo head.. the grease ford uses destroys the plastic and makes it break down.. its about 5mm in diameter only takes one tooth and it stops..... 100% guaruntee this is it.. My last job involved fitting those damn gears.. Ring capalaba ford wreckers i think it is in QLD they sell the new gears.. i normally had to buy min of 20.. otherwise ring 07 5596 1300 they should sell you a gear.
every used speedo head that still works is on its way out.. do it once and dont use grease.. ford only used the grease to hold the gear in place while they put it back together..
to change it pull of the needle (gently and square) remove the two small phillips heads on the face and remove it and the clear housing on the back. on the side is a round silver steel cap held on with two screws, remove it and there it is, just sort of sits there.... nows a great time to fix the Km's on the head.. put it back to gether..
