tonight i just finished a complete mod on the dashboard in my EA. The cluster, airconditioning module and the demister switch..... ill post pics and more info tomorow night... im so happy...
had to put a white facia in to make it all work... looks awesome during the day too...
w000000OoOoO...
only took me a total of about 6 hours LMAO....
along with the 4 stock globes that light up the cluster, i put in an additional 6 LEDs in....
hmmmz yea lol.. how u think i can diffuse? I put extra LEDs on the bottom behond the facia... 1 behind the fuel, 2 behind the tacho and 2 behind the speedo and 1 behind the temperature... hence the bright spots.... it isnt quite as bright.. but still very bright... if i could find a good was to diffuse without losing too much brightness would be good... it needs to be bright because of the white facia... the white facia turns light blue as you can see in the first pic, thats why i needed extra LEDs in there... if the numbers are really bright they stand out from the background or else you cant read the numbers... took me 6 hourssss ahhhhh!
lol i think its worth it anyway... dont think its been done before?
2 options, the reason its blue at the front is because the cluster has refractors that bring some light to the front and it comes out up the top, if u cover the sections at the top that light up blue it might make the front of the cluster darker.
to get rid of the bright spots u might be able to aim the led's side ways rather then straight up as it should give more of a glow rather then bright blue light.
the 2 above methods should make it better overall.
yeah the facias are expensive, there are a few ppl on here lookin' to make some custom ones up, I for 1 are researching it but need more time

yea... if i block the refactors at the top you can't see the needle and if i point the led's sideways it doesnt light up the numbers enough... ill see how i go for now.. i might try get some transparent blue glass paint and then paint the back of the facia where i sanded the green crap off, maybe that will kill a bit of the brightness... the camera makes it look worse than it is... but yea!
