as has been covered in this XG XR6 or S-pac Instrument Cluster thread, quite a few of us are looking for something to replace the original dash with.

unfortunately the wanted thread died an untimely death and almost sank into the quagmire.

i understand that the xg and xg xr6 dashes will fit, with some work (?), but there was also a hint of maybe the ea s-pack dash also fitting...

anyone have any better idea?

All depends on if your looking for the whole dash or just the instrument cluster. Either way, there is work to be done.

An XG or XH dash will fit into an XF, but you will need to connect things to the ECU and change plug adaptors and wiring stuff. Fair bit of work, but I'm sure there was somebody on the forums putting an XH dash in his XF.

I'm still working on getting just the instrument cluster from an XG to fit into my XF, I need the right wiring diagrams first and then I can adapt an XG plug adaptor onto my XF wiring to fit the cluster.

The EA's were a different shape to the XF's, so I doubt very much that an EA dash would fit at all. At least not with out major changes and mods.

I pulled a dash out of a ZK or ZL or somthing (around 1985) fairlane that has the digital dash. It plugs and bolts up exactly the same as the XF. Realy good and easy fit. Looks great. Sorry on the model details.

ZL Fairlane is the one to get - from 1984 -1988. Also XF Ghia from the same era. With these, you can also get the trip computer, and they come standard with cruise buttons on the right hand switch pod. Make sure you grab the cruise as well if you are getting it from a wreck.

dumb question but did fairmont ghias (XF) come out in carby or was it EFI all the way? i guess this applys to fairlanes too.

thanks for the suggestions, but i was hoping to go to something with all analogue guages instead of the digital ones.

looks like i will just have to rebuild mine instead...

(unless i really mod the crap out of it and put an xe s-pack dash in... hmmmmmm, xe cluster in an xf dash...)

Both the XF Ghia and ZL Fairlane were only available as EFI.
