I have an AU1 forte with cam & exhaust. I have the chance to swap a AU1 XR8 computer into it. Will this help any in performance or not? ANyone know?

umm....an XR8 ECU won't run an IL6 because it's for a V8. An XR6 ECU would work and would help to make the most of your mods.

Hey, he didn't say his Forte was a 6pack. They did come out as 8s too you know.

Of course if it is a 6 then nix to the PCM switch.

Of course if it is a 6 then nix to the PCM switch? What do you mean? The XR8 body computer will do the job if i dont change the PCM of my 6? Curously How much would ford sell a XR6 AU1 computer for?

A pcm for a XR6 from ford will cost you around $590.00 depending on built date.

your last post has confused me but if your asking if you can fit a XR8 pcm into your 6cyl forte the answer is no. a v8 computer will not opperate a 6cyl.

From the early specks I have checked that the XR had slightly higher fuel pressure and the XR 6 eec wasn't that much different. So I'd try an adjustable fuel pressure reg first. Or buy another one and try to modify it by compressing it some. But keep a spare just in case you stuff up!![That way you won't stuff up!!]
Do a search it has been mentioned about upping the f/p on std regs...

Perhaps my choice of words was confusing. Nix used as in no. You cannot do a straight swap of a PCM designed for a v8 into an i6.
