hey all, i have a 92 EBII GLi, and want to get a trip computer for it
i was told, that in an EF, the wires and plug are already apart of the dash wiring loom, and i was wondering if anyone knows if it is the same on my EB
and also...what are my chances of getting one from a wreckers/spare parts place?

no chance.......the eb II runs the ECCIV computer wherea's the ef runs the ECCV which are two different computers in every way with totally different calibrations.....if you want a trip computer look at the the wreckers for a fairmont or fairmont ghia eb.

Nemisis, as you have an EBII (92??), The likelihood of the wiring loom being there is fair high... :) You just need to scour wreckers for one, some may take them out of the car and sell them seperately, some may not... I wouldn't expect to pay any more than $50-60 for one... :) Good Luck :)

I dont think ive heard that any EA-ED GLi has wiring for a trip
computer. For a clock maybe. Even if it doesnt, many of us
have successfully added a trip computer to a GL or S. Its just
a simple addition of a few wires.

how much have you guys paid for comps + loom, etc to get it going. FtG Auto quoted me $85 for the lot. any comments? Acid - are they any good, do you know?

Yea, It's pretty good, Nice to know when I'm going to run out of fuel. It's also just a new toy

$85 Is that including installation?
If not, Go to Just Falcon on Canterbury Road, see how much they are there, and then cut the loom out of a falcon at either Kilsyth Wreckers, or Pick a part - All on Canterbury Rd.

I paid $55 for my trip computer...
BTW, is it normal for the trip computer to reset everytime you
turn off the ignition? I dont mean the clock, but rather the range. If i fill up, the range will read 500+ klms. If i stop the
engine and turn off the ignition then turn it back on again it will read something like 150kms and only goes back up after a few mins of driving! Shouldnt it stay at 500+ kms?? This is annoying when you have half a tank left and the darn thing beeps coz of low fuel when you startup!
