I recently installed the trip computer out of an EA Fairmont Ghia into my ED GLi, and I noticed something funny going on. The instantaneous lt/100km reading goes to 99 when the car's stationary, but my bro's AU Fairmont T.C. reads 0. Is this normal for the older T.C.'s, or have I hooked it up wrong?

Its normal - on the newer models the trip changes form lt/100km to lt/hour.

The reason why this is so, is because your car is usinf fuel, but not going anywhere. So Fuel Consumption divided by zero equals infinity, or in the case of the trips display, the largest number it has (99).

My ED does it too!

How hard is it to install the trip computer had a look gotta take off the trim cover. thing is i loosened all visable screwes and its still stuck?

There is only 1 visual screw... there are 3 more. 2 on the right side behind the cluster surround and 1 underneath the trim, behind the stereo trim.

what u mean so i have to take out half the dash?? or just that grey plastic? how do i take off the grey plastic

Thanks for the replies guys. All the functions seem to work ok. So I have nothing to worry about. But does the time it spends on 99 affect the average lt/100km (eg if you spend some time stopped with the engine idling at the lights)?.

U seroius i gotta take out the dash just for somethin this small or u pullin my leg lolz i fought all u do is take out that grey platic i tried but the air vents wont budge
