Howdy All
Hope you can help me.

When I start sometimes the trip computer flashes WRNING a few times under the clock and beeps, then goes back to normal.
Is there some way of getting it to tell me the problem.

It is a very similar thing as reversing with handbrake on, this had me stumped the first time as attention was centred on computer and lost sight if handbrake light, DUH

What model Falcon do you have ???

On the EF/EL models, there are a number of beeps, to warn the Driver that either
Low Oil Pressure
High Engine Coolant Temp
Airbag Fault
Self Leveling Suspension Fault,
Possible Bulb out from Dash.

If U have an EF/EL then I will try and give you the Fault beeps, so as you have some idea WTF the problem could be.
(Unfortunately, I dont have an EA-ED Workshop manual, but I am sure there are many friendly people here that could help you out if this is the case !)

Low oil pressure on start up.

You will notice that the oil warning light on instrument cluster will stay on for a few seconds on start up, that is why your trip computer beeps. As soon as the light turns off, the beeping stops.

Mine does the same.

it actually will say it in your manual that comes with the car. My manual for my NA says that it is a normal start up procedure that the warning will beep and oil light will stay on for 5-10secs until the optimum oil pressure is achieved, if it goes longer than that there is a low oil problem of sorts. it is perfectly normal, and is designed to do it

Thanks for the answer, gave it an oil change and used Helix Super 15/50 and it does not beep on start up any more.
Fairmont Ghia owners manual does not tell much about trip meter except how to set clock and read the milage stuff.
No mention of warning beeps

should it not still beep on cold starts because oil pressure needs to build up mine does anyway about 2 secounds

my fairlane manual says it will until it gains its proper oil pressure, so who knows?
