ok i just finished isntalling my trip computer and cluster into my eb. everything went fine follwoing the tut on ford mods. now its in and running although the average fuel and instant fuel is playing up. as i drive its fine although when i come to a stop it goes down slowly then creeps up to 99.9. why is this happening?? is there a way i maybe able to reset the whole computer? i reset each one individually except for the insant fuel one which doesnt reset. all the wiring was done correctly although the one that goes to the loom in the ecu computer doesnt have pin numbers so i put it in the fourth pin the yellow and green wire as directed in the tut. the fourth pin to the other side of the bolt is green so im thinking could i have got them mistaken?? any help will be greatly appreciated!
It is normal for it to display 99.9 when idling. Technically the car is using an infinite number of litres per 100 km, but 99.9 is the closest the reading will display.

really? you sure about that? i just found it odd as in my fathers ef fairmont ghia it actually drops to zero when the car comes to a hault and stays on zero when the car is idling, same in the magnas... i thought this 99.9 reading in the instant fuel was affecting my reading in the average fuel.. so your car reads out 99.9? sorry im just a lil worried.. thanks!
My two ea's go to 99.9 when idling to and so does my sisters ed .. so I have to agree with trout on this.. after about a week of interally in town driving mine reads 21.7L/100KM but on the highway it the instant on reads 12 or 13 if i do 100km/hour

My ED V8 Fairmont also displays 99.9 while the vehicle is stationary. This is normal according to the literature available from Ford.
d_slayer, you have a problem with your car. My V8 does 16L/100km around town and 10.3L/100km on the highway so your figures of 21.7 and 12-13 are very poor for an I6.

He does have CFI and 3 speed auto and they use more fuel than Multipoint and 4 speed auto or manual.

hey guys thanks a heap for that!!! ill just keep checking my average l/100km to see of its accruate now, my dads ef ghia does 12.4L/100kms but thats on bp ultra or optimax so with mine im guessing it should roughly be between 13 and 14L/100kms... ill drive around a bit and see what happens.. thanks again guys!
But I drive fairly hard and the trip that i do. do are very short where the temp needle doesn't even get off the blue (about1.5km) and other times i leave it idle.. but at 60km i sit on about 14 and at 100 i sit on about 12 when it is warm
