Yes the Ghia dash goes in exactly where the standard one comes out. The only real mod u gotta do is buy a oil sender that operates the gauge. The EF XR8 one will be calibrated to the V8 spec and not you 6cyl spec for a start. And the wiring loom isnt the same secondly. So stick with the Ghia dash unless you want to spend the money getting it re-calibrated. I dont think VDO charge less than $250 to do this!...
Nothing beats the sound of a V8
my xf spac has digital fuel oil and volts gauge but analoge speedo and tacho
just wondering if i would need an oil sender for the oil gauge?
also how would the speedo work? in my old vk calais it had a speedo transducer under the bonnet which the speedo cable would connect to then it would electronically tell the speedo what to read, but from what ive seen on ff the xf's dont use these, so would the speedo cable just plug straight into the back of the digital cluster?
The magna is nearly dead...i need a new car...AGAIN!!...why did i sell the EL??
I got the ghia cluster from an auto dismantler on friday for $130. It was the last one they had, and it came 'fresh' from a ZL fairlane.
Installation took about 15 mins, and the wiring loom was perfectly suited for the new cluster. Everything works like a charm (and looks cool too!), except for the oil gauge. But for the time being, im not gonna worry about it (it works, but it shows oil pressure as being very high all the time).
Next step is to get extractors, 2.5" sports exhaust, and possibly a hot cam.
I'm very happy with the new dash, and it was definitely money well spent.
The odometer has about 207000 k's on it. It's in mint condition, and without any scratches on the glass. These two things themselves have no impact on the price, as it was set. Same goes for the standard XF gauages, which had a set price of $50, regardless of mileage and condition.
As for installation, it was a piece of cake. The black surround has to be removed (not hard to do), and in my case, i also had to remove the plastic cover underneath the dash (where the fuses are). The cluster itself is held on by only 4 screws (2 top 2 bottom), and connected to 2 wiring looms/blocks.
All in all, abuot 15mins of work - and worth every penny!
any way to check how many k's the digital dash has on it? was yours in the car still or sitting out of it.. and if its out of it, is there a way they can just connect say 12 volts to it somewhere and the stuff lights up?
Xtreme 275.6 rwkw, 12.93 sec quater, Phoon CAI, Siemens Injectors, StealthFX BOV with XBOX entertainment.
there would be a way you could connect a current up to it to find out the k's but i would not suggest try cos you might stuff it
whean putting a ltd speedo cluster in there is some tricky screews up underneath near where the fuse panel clips in at the top. you might need to change the oil pressure switch for a oil pressure sender,I would suggest getting it from the car you get/got the speedo cluster from
