ok i now have an ed series 2 wagon
the smart lock remote can open the tail gate but i can't seem to lock the tailgate

iv'e tried this
push the boot button, open bot then shut it (worked on au) and tried to see if it was locked - it wasn't

open boot shut it, press boot button - still open

to lock it i have to use the key or the button inside the car

is there any other way?? ive had the car only a coupla hours and thats one of the things that are starting to tick me off

My EB2 Wagon does the same thing.
You can't lock it with the smartlock only with the button inside or the key.

I thought it was broken but perhaps its meant to be that way.....

MN, EBIIs do have dumblock, just not the early ones.

Pros; BBM conversion is easy, remote central

Cons; IT'S A PIECE OF CRAP.

I've got a 1994 ED with the same 'problem'. It's because they use the sedan BEM(?) (brainbox thing!) which doesn't need the locking function as you have to close the boot anyway.

Fixed I believe with EF onwards.....

BCM= Body Control Module
BEM= Not 100% sure on that one.
