I have an EL Fairmont with what seems to be a fairly standard problem of water leaking into the passenger footwell from the AC vent.

My reading seems to say it's a problem with a loose/blocked drain hose. My questions is: is this something I can easily fix myself? Where do I look in the compartment for the connection? Do I have to start ripping out bits of dash? If it's blocked at the outlet end, where do I find that?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Outlet is on the engine side of the firewall passenger's side; a romboidic plastic fitting. Just poke a bit of stiff nylon hose or something else that won't cause damage up it to clean it

OK, think I found the rhombodic plastic fitting for the AC drain hose inside the engine bay. However, there seem to be a number of tubes coming out of it.

I'm not game to guess which one to pull off - any more info, anyone?

It's actually a hole that you're looking for. If you get at it from under the car it will probably be easier to find.

Run your hand up the soundproofing and you should feel a pipe. If you run up your aircon for a bit it may actually get damp, making it even easier to find. Once you've found it, stick a bit of something in there as previously mentioned.

You don't have to disconnect anything as the drain hose is just an exit pipe (that frequently gets blocked...).

It'll be about a 1/2 inch black hard plascti pipe. Sticks out 90deg to the firewall, and the top half is cut away.
It comes out about a foot underneath the computer loom. Close to where the heater hoses go in.

And the leak may not be a blocked drain; it might well be caused by the climate control evaporator sensor moving and acting as a siphon.
