A few days ago, within 2 minutes of starting my EFII and driving away I thought I smelled smoke (like ecualyptus leaves), so I stuck my nose outside the car, but decided it was stronger inside the car. I pulled over straight away and popped the hood, but no sign of fire anyware.
Got back in engaged first and was just about to drive away and all the sudden some white smoke started coming out the face vents. I quickly turned the fan speed up, but this made even more smoke below out the vents. Christ !!!
I was shocked, but by the time I had turned the fan off, the smoke was already slowing down.
It definitely smelled like burning leaves. I remembered today that the day before the EF had developed a ticking noise on interior fan speed 1 that disappeared on speed 2/3/boost. So I am assuming that the leaves caught in the air ducts have somehow caught fire, but how ?
1. Has anybody heard of this happening before ????
2. I'd like to clean the air ducts and plenum chamber (I can definitely see some leaves down there), and I'd appreciate any tips on how to go about this (both the external grid, and whatever you can get to on the cockpit, especially if there's plastic clips that are likely to break etc ????
Smoke aint a good thing inside a car....
