XA alternator light still coming on after replacing alternator with new one!
The silly alternator light is still coming on when the headlights are on and i use indicators and brake lights at the same time, and i just replaced the alternator with a totally new unit!
A meter across the alternator shows it is charging at about 13.9 at low revs, and then a lowest of 13.4 with everything going...so that is still working properly isnt it? But the alternator light in the dash is still coming on when things are turned on!
A fellow coupe owner friend said something about that being typical of XA's and that it was due to poor wiring designs or something. Is this true or would it just be voltage drops between the alternator and the guages due to crap wires or something along those lines?

not 100% mate but you theroy sound pretty good, run a thicker new wire from one to the other and see if it still happens. might even be a dirty terminal or doggy earth
