Does anyone know whether or not it is possible to rig an XB Fairmont up with electric windows or central locking? At the minute I don't have the money to do so, nor am I sure whether or not I'd want to do this as it may take away from the originality of the car, but if I did decide I wanted to it'd be good to know whether or not it was possible.

Also, who here would be interested in doing this themselves? Good idea or bad?

The XB had a powr window option. All you need is the motors and the window regs. I have a set of motors i dont need plus switches but you will have to suply the wireing harrness, which you can get from most wrecking yards.

You say you could supply me with the motors, but how about the whole lot? Motors, switches, everything. Can you provide this?

You can do after market central locking easy enough. It's about 4 hours work max. I installed an alarm while I was there also. Some places that I rang wouldn't do all four doors. Dodgey as! I've got all four doors done. They told me on the phone the rears are hard?? Took me 30mins total for both rears! The rears are the easy bit.

Make sure you get the good actuators. Those cheap $40 central locking kits actuators fail real quick in XB's. The XB locking mech is too heavy.
