Hey Guys,

Ive recently found in my XF that, after i start the car and am about to move off the steering wheel is "stuck". I have to give it a sharp turn to the right to loosen it up before i can turn it, otherwise it dosent really move at all. It has power steering. The previous owner just fit a new ignition lock about 2 weeks ago...could that have done something?

sounds like the lock pin is not retracting 100% when you turn the key - maybe you'll need to dismantle the ignition lock and apply some graphite.

or you could do what car thieves do - while it is locked give it a sharp tug and sheer the pin right off - heheheheh

Yeah why not - it's worth a try - eventually the very end of the pin may wear down enough. The main thing is it's not locking while you're driving along.

Yeah thats right t3man. The only reason why i was concerned is that i have rego coming up soon...have to go in for a pink slip...but that shouldnt affect it?

Well i finally got it traced down to a problem with the power steering pump. Mechanic found that it was a sticking valve and added some power steering treatment. It has helped, as it dosent get as bad anymore. Decided to post the result incase anybody else is havin the same problem!
