Re: we are all mad at ford!
If they aint making a hefty profit at $140K, then they've obviously screwed up. In my opinion, a cadillac shouldnt cost much more than a pinto to build, yet they can charge 5 times the price.
if the GT was 'mass produced' I bet ford could drop the price to the point prospective corvette buyers would happily hang up their bow-ties and smile all the way to the Ford dealer...
If they are making money at the current price, then they are kinda stupid for 'turning away the work' in my opinion. If they know the market is there for a corvette/viper replacement, why dont they go after it- theres been more buzz about the GT than anything I can ever recall. they sure got the car right, but marketing dropped the ball bigtime.
If ford hold the mustang pricing, and build them fast enough, I really think they'll have a 1965 like sales record this coming year- wouldnt be suprised if they either jack the prices or produce too few...same marketing/accounting people are the brains behind moving so many production plants to mexico, then wonder why sales are declining- lets see, the guy they laid off didnt buy one, and the poor mexican worker couldnt afford one...DUH...pretty simple to most people, but not the fianancial gurus- they'll find a way on paper to make more money by building another multimillion dollar facility in china to cut costs/increase profits...(forgetting about associated lost sales). wouldnt know a good thing if they saw it
