Jst wondering what percentage of the Mazda motor comany Ford actually own? also what was the reason Ford bought them out?

When the deal was done a few years ago it was 25% but i know it definatly increased to 1/3 share but it could even be more than that now

Ummmm, good question. I know Ford started a joint venture with Mazda in 1969 for automatic transmissions. During the 1970's Mazda was hit hard by the oil shock. In 1979 Ford owned 25% of Mazda. In 1992, Ford became the controlling shareholder of Mazda. That started Auto Alliance Inc. in North America, a joint venture between Mazda and Ford.
