Automotive News / June 11, 2003
Mazda North American Operations has named Robert Davis to the new position of senior vice president of marketing and product development.
Davis, 39, was product development and strategy vice president. He adds marketing to his responsibility, the automaker said. Davis takes over for Kristen Simmons, who left the company last week as vice president of marketing operations. Mazda said she has taken a senior marketing position at a non-automotive company.
Mazda said the move more closely aligns its marketing and product development operations.
Davis has worked for Mazda in North America for 13 years. He reports to COO John Mendel.
Mazda, of Irvine, Calif., created two other positions, both reporting to Davis:
Eric Johnston, former model line marketing director, becomes director of marketing.
A director of product strategy, who will lead product marketing and advanced activities groups, will be named later this month.
