Mazda Profit Booming, Relatively
MAZDA PROFIT BOOMING, RELATIVELY
Mazda says its most recent net profit improved by 554 - yes, 554 -
percent. The increase, to $65 million from a net loss of more than $1
billion last year. The weak yen and cost-cutting measures are credited for
the turnaround, which Reuters says is the biggest one-year turnaround in
the company's history. Mazda, Japan's fifth-largest carmaker, is planning
for all its subsidiaries except in Europe to be profitable this year.
