Re: 2001 p71 slipping

So I went to the local Valvoline guys and they were kind enough to give me the following information based on your diagram

PKEBH1
1W7P7000CA
027660
EBH1027660

Perhaps you could decode from this which transmission to search for on that site you provided. They have 3 options and of COURSE two are a close match. GO FIGURE HUH?

Thanks in advance for being so patient with someone who knows so little about cars.

I CAN HOWEVER HELP YOU WITH YOUR COMPUTER IF YOU *EVER* need help. I work for VERIZON and have tools that I can remotely repair just about anything you may have issues with. SLOW SPEED, VIRUSES....as long as you can get online....I can maintain your computer. (it would be my PLEASURE to help you, given your generosity with my continued questions)

Re: 2001 p71 slipping

It's the middle one. If you remove the 7000 from the center of the 1W7P7000CA nunber you found, that's the one you have.

As far as the computer, I am very well versed on them and don't need help but appreciate the offer. I help friends and relatives with either crossloop or teamviewer. I even beta test some for Microsoft. I'm just glad to help. Thanks again for the offer.

Re: 2001 p71 slipping

Just wanted to offer up WHERE my level of expertise is. Apparently your quite the renaissance man. You make me feel inadequate. But as long as it's just between us......I'm gonna now start looking for that trans given my newfound information. I found a local trans shop that will do the swap out for $300.00 flat on the same day. I'm hoping this will breath new life into my p71.

Let me ask you a question. Ohio is having another auction on Dec 12th and a number of 2007 CVP71's are listed. From 'SOMETHING' I read I thought that the 2004 was the best model to choose. What's your feeling? If I was interested in buying one that hasn't been a taxi......what'd you choose?

Thanks.

Re: 2001 p71 slipping

We never had much trouble with any of them except maybe the 2003s. It's to bad you can't drive them to see what they're like. If you get them cheap enough and let you know if there's any problems, you'll be alright. Our state sells on ebay and has a very good reputation. You can see them on Oregonsurplus and click on the "Sales to the General Public". They even sell for other agencies.

Re: 2001 p71 slipping

Thanks.....The ohio state auction for trooper cars is dec 12th. They've got a number of 2007's up. I've seen so many 2003's that it makes me nervous about they model. I've read "somewhere" here or on crownvic.net that 2003 had issues and that 2004 was a good solid year. As funds are limited I'm really trying to be as economic as possible. Your help has been invaluable. I'm considering a turnpike car which only make left turns and don't ever leave the nice even pavement of the pike.

But if there's something that you in your infinite wisdom would want to share.....I'm listening.

Re: 2001 p71 slipping

Not much to say except that the Crown Vics are pretty trouble free. Working for the local government gave me experience with a lot of different vehicles. Dodges were the weakest. That's why I have my Crown Vic. I don't need to work on something on my own time.
