Auxiliary Audio Plug-in (Cassette & MP3 capability)

Has anyone had the MP3 interface fitted?

If so, where does the "3.5mm stereo jack is positioned in the console " actually get fitted?

If you look under the tissue box you will see/feel a plastic bracket, it sits in this.

I have one installed.
It's pretty hard to insert a 3.5mm stereo jack into it as well..
I also notice a wine noise when using it at well.
Maybe I need to get it shielded better?

I don't have the stereo jack but I also get the wine noise when playing a DVD through the AUX input. I'll be getting the dealer to look at it. If your's is the same as mine if you pull out the plug from the jack and just have the AUX on the stereo you'll here the wine when the engine is running...

Re: Auxiliary Audio Plug-in (Cassette & MP3 capability)

Hi All, first post here. Seriously considering getting a Territory (with 7 seats - just did a Brady Bunch merger, but I hate the people mover concept). My other car is a 03 Saab 9-3 and I'm a mod at www.saabcentral.com. I noticed this post as at SaabCentral we actually figured out to do our own Aux-in installs. Saab promised that it would be an option but didn't actually make it available. They do now and offer it as a $200+ option. Anyway it turned out to be a really simple operation using shielded audio cables from Dick Smith and just plugging into L, R and ground pins on the back of the EHU. Cost about $20. Works a treat when connected to an iPod, MUCH, MUCH better than a stacker. Some reported interference, but that was easily fixed using a ground loop isolator (again from Dick Smith). Interesting to note that when the cable is disconnected and the AUX is selected there is also a whine in the Saab (but reconnect the cable and the whine goes).

Anybody pulled out the EHU and seen where the AUX pins are? I would imagine it would be a similar process to the Saab.

I couldn't live without the AUX and I'm glad to see the Territory has this feature too.

I'll keep browsing this forum and ask a few more questions soon.

Howdy Saba.

Good to see the Aussie Territory pulling fans for Ford from parts of the world most us wouldnt necessarily expect!!

Thxs for your post. At this time of night, as much as I love acronymns and technical jargon ... I'm happy to put my hand up and say I have absolutely no idea what you're on about :-)

But the IMPORTANT thing is .... it probably does mean something to those interested in the iPOD and auxiliary player use.

I noticed in a recent motoring article that the new BMW 1 Series has a specific connection for the iPOD player. Sign of things to come I guess.

Re: Auxiliary Audio Plug-in (Cassette & MP3 capability)

Thanks for the welcome Organza. However I'm not OS, but in Perth. I suppose my post was a bit full of jargon. But it should be real simple to do the aux yourself if you feel inclined. However its pretty cheap as a factory fitted option so I will go that way. I just like to mess about with my cars.

the BMW ipod solution is rubbish. The ipod simply is connected as a stacker and shows 6 numbers on the stacker. You set up 6 playlists on the ipod and these correspond to the numbers on the stacker. Press 1 for playlist one and so on. No real big deal. No song titles, no display, no scrolling, no ipod functionality. Better off with the ipod in your lap or holder and using the controls there.

I'm looking at getting a 7 seat TS in Sillouette. Hopefully should be ordering within the next month.

Cheers

Re: Auxiliary Audio Plug-in (Cassette & MP3 capability)

Having just ordered an Aux plug-in kit from Ford does anyone know what's involved in fitting it. I plan on having a look when it turns up at the Spare Parts depot tomorrow and see whether it something I can tackle myself or leave it for the service department. I figure if those guys can do it it can't really be that hard.

Just should have ordered it in the first place - oh well you live and learn.

Re: Auxiliary Audio Plug-in (Cassette & MP3 capability)

Well a self-install of the aux. audio plug couldn't be easier. Including tying the cable up it couldn't have taken longer than 5 minutes (well, if you subtract the time it took to recover the small nut I dropped under the gear selector).

Your spare parts guy might have trouble finding it in the Territory accessory manual, because it isn't there, but it's the same part listed for the BA Falcon, naturally (Part No. BA 289455 AA). It comes complete with step-by-step illustrated intructions.

In fact since ordering I discovered I could have made it myself for about $5 but I'm happy to pay ~$30 bucks from Ford to get all the right plugs and the instructions, I'm just glad I didn't pay another ~$35 for the install. This link to DIY Aux. input is thanks to Aaron from the Turbo Xr6 site;
