Cabin creak

G'day folks,

My Ghia AWD has developed a strange creak inside the cabin. I can't tell if it is in the console or the driver's seat. I only seem to be able to hear it when my wife is driving and I'm in the passenger seat. She's vertically challenged compared to me so her seat setting is very different to mine. The creak happens when she takes off from a standing start or hits the brakes. The car's going in for its 3,000 km check next week and I've asked the dealer to check it out - not serious but annoying in a top of the line model. Anyone else noticed something similar?

Other than this the Terri is a pleasure to drive and going beautifully.

Re: Cabin creak

I just got mine back from a 3000km service, they ended up keeping it over night because of a couple of codes on the ECU.

My wife picked it up and what they told her went straight over her head, so I'll give the guy a call tomorrow.

There was something about Reverse sensors and brakes. I just drove it & the brakes do feel much better.

No noises though.

Re: Cabin creak

I had the creak from the rear - AWD Ghia - n=they never fixed it and it got so bad I traded it in after 7000K's - see a post on how long does it take to become a lemon.

Re: Cabin creak

Turns out the creak is coming from the passenger seat. Dealer tightened some bolts but it was still evident. Now they've ordered a new seat base as they think it is flexing. Other than that the Terri's great.

Was it a front or rear seat - I have a creak coming from the back and I've always thought it was the seat but since no one was in it I thought it must have been a ghost .

If it might be the seat base - I'll check it out.

Wink Re: Cabin creak

Touche!

I'm not a pygmy Raptor, that's why I got a Terri - room. When I was looking around at an AWD I had a squiz at the Outback - bumped my head on the roof while sitting in the driver's seat.

P.S the creak got progressively worse so that I could hear it when I was driving as well.

Front Passenger seat and rear (shocker?) creaks in my AWD Lightning Strike Ghia (see also how long does it take to be a lemon).
