Read City or Rural Territory owner POLL

Are you a city or rural Territory driver? Rural means more than 100km's from a city or large city centre. Large city centre would be more than 100,000 people.

Re: City or Rural Territory owner POLL

I think we really need more options than just city or rural. A third category for those somewhere in between.

Take my situation as an example, Kiama is a coastal town. I commute on a mix of open roads to urban type roads 30km each way to my place of employment and while I encounter my share of road abouts, school zones and stop lights it's certainly not stop/start city traffic either.

The nearest large city (Wollongong) is within the 100km specified but no-way am I saying I'm a city dweller. When I go on Holidays or for a pleasure drive I'm more likely to head south or west and into more rural areas than into Sydney yet I might go there once every month or so.

For now I'm just not voting.

Re: City or Rural Territory owner POLL

Darwin is under 100,000. Most here would be dismayed to hear we are not a city !!!

Officially we are !! We have a Lord Mayor, not a Mayor.
What is the purpose of this poll anyway??

It amazes me that Dawin is under the 100,000 as I was led to believe that Hobart was the smallest with 165,000, good to see I learn something everyday.

The purpose is to see if Ford has managed to produce a vehicle that is catering more for both City and Rural people as first hoped. Rural people have been a little limited with their selection of Australian made when it comes to a tough family vehicles, capable of rough terrain. It seems they have succeeded. It was dissapointing to see them take the Ford Fairmont wagon away, but hey the Territory is just as good, and goes that little bit further.

The poll has no other purpose!

I TRIED TO MODIFY THE POLL, BUT WAS UNABLE TO ADD ANOTHER OPTION. IT SEEMS THE MOUSE BUTTON IS A LITTLE FASTER THAN I AM.

Re: City or Rural Territory owner POLL

Would be of interest to compare our resepctive fuel economies. Hobart is not rural but certainly is much easier driving than the big capitals. I am consistently getting between 13.5 and 15.0 liters per 100 kilometres (AWD) but I do notice the consumption soars when I do a lot of city mileage. Doubt that someone in metropolitan Sydney would get near these numbers.

Re: City or Rural Territory owner POLL

Having just returned from Hols I was very pleased with the all up 2584km trip average of 12.6l/100kms. Went down the NSW south coast to Eden, across Victoria skirting Melbourne and on to to Geelong and the Great Ocean Road as far as the 12 apostles, up to Ballarat then north to Echuca, across to Albury then the Alpine Way to the Snowy's (Jindabyne) then up to Canberra and home. This reading was taken from the trip computer which was reset as we set off. The best average reading it managed was 12.4l/100kms whilst in rural Vic.

Normal usage sees me in the high 13's or low 14's.

Vehicle is an AWD TS with 7seats and it was fully loaded with luggage while on hols plus 2 adults and 2 kids (aged 7 and 10) on board.

Re: City or Rural Territory owner POLL

I agree with Raptor. Whilst we live about 50km from Sydney, one of the reasons why we bought the Terry is because our business takes us out into the central west on a regular basis, so a qualified city owner vote for me.

Re: City or Rural Territory owner POLL

It surprises me a little that the rural count is low, as I see so many driving around in this part of rural Victoria. At my work place where there are 19 employees, and 4 of us have Territory TS models.

Still love my Territory.

Re: City or Rural Territory owner POLL

It is possible that the poll does not reflect the location of territory owners.

Rather it reflects the ownership location plus access to or interest in the internet. More country owners may have poor internet access or little interest in auto sites. Its one possible difficulty with this straw poll
