Crunchy power seat track

I have a niggly problem on my November build Ghia RWD. When I move the driver seat base backwards, it jumps and bumps its way back. When I move it forward, all is smooth. It is otherwise OK, quite stable.

I am yet to get to 3000Kms so will have it looked at then but I was wondering if anyone else with a power driver seat had the same problem.

Re: Crunchy power seat track

So I took my T in for its 3000km service before Easter and the dealer agreed that the seat base needed to be replaced. That was a month ago and the dealer has been good in keeping me up to date on the fact that there are no power seat bases available at present as spare parts.

Now sure the problem isnt serious but it annoys me that there are plenty of seat bases around to go into new cars but one can't be spared to go into one that's already been sold.

Otherwise the car is going great, this just takes the shine off the ownership experience.

Same here, Also mine comes and goes. sometimes it's fine other times it bumps.
It decided to behave at the 3000 service so I said not to worry about it for the time, will get it looked at when/if it gets real bad.

Re: Crunchy power seat track

I have this problem as well. Fortunately, my wife and I have our seats programmed into our keys, so we rarely see the fault. I do have another problem, however. My seat moves. It is the bolts or however the seat is bolted into the chassis, which moves when you hit the accelerator, and then also when you hit the breaks. The dealers have already 'fixed' the problem and today they were told of the fault and 'fixed' it, but the problem is still there. Ford service is like Microsoft Security, an Oxymoron.

Re: Crunchy power seat track

You might find that the movement in the seat is connected with the bumps in the motion of the power base. My wife tells me when she sets the seat for her position, it sometimes moves - I never feel it move but then I have it back much further than her. Maybe if you nudge it back or forward a bit that will stop it moving for now ?

Not just a Terry problem, replicates the issue I have had with a BA Ghia, 18 months to resolve, now starting to move again some 5 months from having the base replaced. The 'crunching' hasn't come back yet though.

Just remember that it must be acceptable as 'they all do that'!

Re: Crunchy power seat track

My Terri has the same problems. Movement on acceleration and braking and also a ratchety clunky movement mechanism. It certainly will be interesting to see what they say about this on my next service.
